The Cavs play the worst teams in the league and still manage to come out on the back end

At the beginning of the 2020-2021 NBA season, the Cavs were hoping to have a better record than the previous year. They hoped to reach the playoffs, but this image seems to get blurrier with every game they've been playing.
The Cavs faced the Thunder on Feb. 21, dropping their 10th consecutive game. Thankfully, they followed with a four-game winning streak directly after against the Hawks, Rockets, and 76ers.
As the Cavs went into the Thunder game, they expected to come out on top and dominate. The Thunder is considered one of the few teams that are just as bad as the Cavs. They were instantly disappointed to say the least.
An article from The Chronicle mentioned Jarrett Allen's post-game interview, "You can win any game, but when you look, I think they're 14th in the Western Conference," Allen said of the Thunder. "They're in a similar position as we're in from rebuilding. It's like looking in the mirror across the other side of the court. Those are the games you want to go out and you want to fight and you want to win and you want to play your hardest, your best against those teams."
The Cavs rebuild is going to need yet another adjustment if they're going to get into the playoffs anytime soon. Playing without Kevin Love, Taurean Prince and Larry Nance Jr. back and healthy, it's looking like their ship to the playoffs this season is sailing further and further away.
The young prodigies for Cleveland -- Allen, Collin Sexton, and Darius Garland -- are among those keeping this team even remotely alive right now. In the Thunder game, Sexton had 27 points and four turnovers while Garland ended with 21 points and eight assists. Allen came through as the most help for this team going 8-for-8 from the field and had 18 points and 14 boards. Their collective contributions still were not capable of beating the Thunder.
Sexton is continuously shocking the world with his skill and talent, but it is just not enough for the Cavs to consistently keep their heads above water. If the Cavs aren't able to support Sexton in the ways that he needs to thrive, they may not have him for very long.
"We've got to make open shots," Cavs head coach, J.B. Bickerstaff said in the post-game interview. "At the end of the day, that's what this game comes down to." And he is completely right. This team needs to get more consistent with their shots and driving into the paint. Even though they just had a four-game winning streak, they're going to need to change their momentum at all points of the game in order to get back on track.
