Was it the loss of a preseason? Maybe the turf?

Week two of the NFL did not go as anyone would have ever expected. It seems as if every hour, there continues to be a new report of another injured player.
Due to COVID-19, the season was delayed, and the NFL made the executive decision to cancel all preseason games and jump right into Week One. With no preseason, that means starting players jump right in, giving it their all without the “practice” and gradual start that preseason provides.
Saquon Barkley, Solomon Thomas, Nick Bosa, and Bruce Irvin are just a few of the already confirmed torn ACL’s this Sunday, these players will be out for the remainder of the 2020 NFL Season.
At least five 49ers players were added to the injured list this Sunday. Is this the cause of not having a preseason? Or maybe the newly inserted turf? The NFL is now investigating the condition of the turf after reports of it being “sticky” and the result of some of these injuries.
The NFL has said that the turf at MetLife Stadium was good to play on after being inspected the same way that every other field is inspected, weekly.
Via Ian Rapoport of the NFL, ‘the independent field inspector completed the inspection on September 12.’ The field inspector cleared the field in complying with the NFL policies. Each home field must certify that their field complies with the NFL policies within 72 hours of the game, which MetLife Stadium did.
In addition to Soloman Thomas and Nick Bosa, the 49ers also lost valuable players such as QB Jimmy Garoppolo due to an ankle injury, and RB Raheem Mostert with an MCL injury.
With the 49ers playing at MetLife Stadium again in Week 3, they are skeptical about playing with all of the lower leg injuries that occurred this week. Although, there were no complaints from the Steelers after their Week 1 - Monday night football game, at MetLife.
Following the 49ers and Giants injuries, there have also been many other long-term injuries in week two of the NFL, some season ending, some who will be out for multiple weeks. Those reports include:
